School Day

Normal School Hours

9.00am – 12.00pm

1.00pm – 3.15pm

There are morning and afternoon playtimes for all children.

Start of day

School officially starts at 9.00am, however, the entry doors on the main playground are opened from 8.50am until 9.00am to allow a staggered entry.

Please note: the playground is not supervised before 8.50 am therefore your child remains your responsibility until the school doors open.  Also, please ensure that your children (including pre-school children) do not use the apparatus before or after school.  The school cannot accept liability for any injuries incurred owing to unauthorised use of equipment.

Late arrivals

The school doors are closed at 9.00am  Late arrivals must enter through the main entrance and be signed in at the office.  Any child arriving after 9.15am will be marked as an unauthorised late.

Lunchtime  (12.00pm - 1.00pm)

Parents may choose:

(a)      to send in a packed lunch for their child.

Packed lunches should be placed in a small lunch box or bag, marked with the child’s name.  Drinks must be in an unbreakable, leak proof container and kept inside the lunchbox. PLEASE NOTE, WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL.

(b)        a hot dinner provided free of charge (under the Goverment's Universal Infants Free School Meals provision) for their child.

End of day

The school day ends at 3.15pm.  At the end of the day, the children are dismissed from designated exits.

Your child becomes your responsibility again as soon as they are met at the end of the day.  Children stay with their class teacher until an adult has collected them.

Children who have not been collected at the end of the day will be brought to the school office to wait with the Headteacher.

Absences

We ask that holidays are not taken during term time as long periods (one or two weeks) away from school break the continuity of learning and often unsettle a child.

However, the Headteacher may give discretionary permission for such holidays of up to ten days in exceptional circumstances.  Requests should be made on a ‘leave of absence request form’ which is available from the school office. Holidays taken without permission are registered as unauthorised absences and reported to the local authority. This can result in fixed fines.

Parents should notify the school of the reason for their child's absence each day by 9.30am. This can be done by telephone or email.  Any absences not notified will be considered unauthorised.
